Bound for Gardiner’s Island is based on a true adventure of children growing up on Long Island. Set in the early 1900s, Bound for Gardiner’s Island is based on the true adventure of children growing up on Long Island in the fishing hamlet of Springs, East Hampton, New York. The children venture forth on a small boat to find Captain Kidd’s treasure, buried on Gardiner’s Island in 1699. Written as a play with music, students portray in words and music the dramatic experience of self-discovery. Meet Hunter, a ten-year-old boy, who comes from a long line of fishermen. Every day is a “fine day for fishin’” for him and his trusty dog Coastal, a yellow lab. Nell just wants to leave Springs and get rich.
