Try as you might, there’s just no escaping the truth that what you eat today will dictate how you look and feel tomorrow. If you are a former athlete who had grown accustomed to consuming 4,000-5,000 calories each day during your active high school or college playing days, I’m sure you’ve come to a harsh awakening now that the rigorous training has ended and heavy food consumption continues. Please know that there’s no way to continue consuming an excess of 3,000 calories a day and not expect to gain fat if you are not strength training. Most of us only require around 2,000 calories a day. No matter how we slice it, heavy eating without regular strength training and aerobic activity eventually leads to weight-related health issues…PERIOD!
Even before an introduction to athletics, most of us simply learned how and what to eat from our parents, who learned it from their parents, and so on. On Day 4 we’ll examine how we eat, drink and live.
