Biology 12 begins with the Chemistry of Life, where the structure and function of biochemicals is examined. The next four units: Cytology, DNA, Membrane Function and Enzymes prepare learners for understanding six organ-systems of the human body that are presented, namely digestive, circulatory, nervous, respiratory, urinary and reproductive. Each of the book’s eleven units contain many questions (diagram-based, short answer and multiple choice) linked to their answers for self-testing and checking one’s understanding. It also contains an interactive Genetic Code, and Glossary that contains close to a thousand contextually explained terms. The book is written with students in mind. The explanations are clear, and supported with original artwork.

Biology 12 is the sixth edition of the student study guide and addresses all required curriculum objectives in British Columbia for which it was prepared. Many of the topics it contains match the requirements in other provinces as well.
