In the cafeteria were about a hundred more students from their dorm building. All of them lounging in the cool air, some studying, some socializing, others on mobile devices. Jerrika and Maya found an empty table and Maya sat down to save it. She looked at Jerrika who had, by default, been selected to go get the ice cream. “Buy me a triple scoop of butterscotch?” She smiled sweetly.

Jerrika cracked a mouth open smile in mock amazement. “Buy you a treat?” She said in an accusatory voice. “You make more than I do most nights, you should buy me treats. And flowers. And chocolates.”

Maya put on her best 'love me' face “Please? I love you.”

Jerrika just shook her head and grinned. “Okay, but you have to be nice to me for five whole minutes.” She said, then added “Five minutes in a row.” She pointed an acusatory finger at Maya.

“One minute.” She retorted.

“Four minutes.” Jerrika crossed her arms and looked at Maya defiantly.

“Two minutes.” Maya crossed her arms in response.

“Three minutes and you have to compliment me when I return.” Jerrika said “Final offer.”

“Done.” Maya said and Jerrika went off to get their goods. Both women had a victorious smile on their faces.

Minutes later Jerrika returned and placed a bowl of butterscotch ice cream in front of Maya her own bowl was loaded down with plain vanilla covered in colorful sprinkles. Maya grabbed a spoon and smiled at Jerrika. “You're the best.” She said. “But you sure took your sweet ass time getting back. I think I got my doctorate while you were busy screwing around in line.”

Jerrika made a wounded look. “You agreed to be nice to me for three whole minutes in a row!” She remarked at the now grinning Maya.

“I was.” Maya shot back. “You were getting my ice cream during your three minutes. Next time hurry back and you'll catch some of the nice.”

Jerrika sat there with a pouting look on her face.

“Oh, you got your compliment when you sat down. It's not my fault you were non-specific as to when these three minutes had to take place.” Maya said and started to reach her spoon over to Jerrika's bowl. “Lemme try some of that.”

Jerrika pulled her bowl away and made a fake expression of defiance. “No. You don't get any of my sprinkles.” She said as Maya smiled playfully and tried moving to reach Jerrika's bowl. “No. You eat your unsprinkled boring old butterscotch ice cream, you cheater.”

Maya got up and moved around the table to trap Jerrika and her bowl of ice cream in the booth. Jerrika shrieked and turned her back to Maya trying to protect her vanilla sprinkled treasure. They both laughed as they wrestled, Maya landing quick kisses on Jerrika's shoulders as she reached around to try and land her spoon into the bowl. After a minute she stopped and kissed the back of Jerrika's neck for a long moment and whispered in her ear. “You are the most beautiful, lovable, sexy and kind hearted woman that ever walked the face of the Earth and any man or woman, living or dead, fictional or spiritual, would be lucky to know you even for a minute of their lives.”

Jerrika was silent for a moment and then turned around holding her bowl between them. “Okay.” She said looking deeply into Maya's eyes. “You can have one spoonful.”

Maya didn't unlock eye contact with Jerrika. She scooped up one spoonful of the sprinkled delight and put it in her mouth. “That's pretty good.” She said. “Sprinkles do make everything better.”

“Then why didn't you get sprinkles on your butterscotch?” Jerrika asked.

“You're my sprinkles” Maya said with a straight face. After a long moment gazing into Jerrika's eyes, she turned to face the table and grabbed her own bowl. Now sitting side by side, the two women ate their frozen treats occasionally dipping their spoon into the others bowl.
