  1. Baby Blue, the second in a new mystery series, is set in contemporary Greece, a country teetering from one crisis to the next. Soaring unemployment, waves of immigrants, new forms of organized crime, and political instability. Athenians are struggling and their city is a fascinating setting for this new mystery series. 2. The protagonist, a hit man with the strict moral code, in his search for the murderers of an investigative journalist does battle with criminals representing ruthless media and industrial interests, all feeding off the remains of the Greek economy. Helped by three childhood friends, Costas Dragas, a homicide cop, Teri, a transsexual high-class hooker and Maria, the passion of his life who is expecting his child, he peels back layer upon layer of illegal economic activity by people who will stop at nothing to protect their interests. 3. Stratos’ first person narrative voice is strong, given depth and life by his recurrent interest in film noir and his warm and believable friendships, and by the wry philosophical observations that punctuate his story.
