How much of yourself can you give to another person before you feel empty? Through all the blood, sweat, and passion, love can sometimes feel hollowespecially when the enthusiasm is not reciprocated. Written in Japanese senryu format, Ascension is a novella in verse that tells the heartbreaking story of one mans unfortunate tussle with unfair love.

For decades, our narrator has suffered depression and anxiety. Sadly, his loved ones, friends, and love interests have served as the cause of his mental illness. He asks the question, Are the things you want in life worth the mental toll? Now, he struggles to overcome his obstacles. And he can by putting depression to bed and rising above the tumultuous relationships that have ruled his every breath for much too long.
