This is a summary of Anthony Doerr's novel "All the Light We Cannot See" in which Antony Doerr narrates how the lives of Marie-Laure LeBlanc, Werner Pfennig among others, are all connected together during the tumultuous period of WWII. The Sea of Flames is at the middle of the story, though it is not the primary focus. The actual focal point is in the lives of the soldiers and civilians raised in poor homes and surviving in turbulent conditions, thus offering a human touch to the story of Europe in the Second World War.

The novel is set primarily in Germany and France during WWII. A lot of the action is based around a town in France, known as St. Malo, which happens to be close to the English Channel. Famous for pirate activity, it was bombed during WWII. The core focus of the book is the bombings, which are chronologically set. The events and locations mentioned are real, which makes the novel feel more realistic and believable.
