This is the final part of the memoirs of Detective Inspector Peter Johns. In it, he tries to tell the story of his beloved first wife, Angie and how she affected his own life and those of other people around her. Angie comes to Britain from Jamaica, intent on finding help for her brother, who has cerebral palsy. A murder at the nurses’ home where she lives, brings her into contact with Peter, who comes in to investigate. Peter is clear that the colour of a person’s skin is of no significance, but others do not agree – as Peter and Angie find out to their cost.

If you are interested in reading more of Peter’s memoirs, they are available as e-books in the Kobo Store. To date, he has written the following titles.

  • PC Johns turns to Crime: Peter’s transition from Bobby-on-the-beat to detective constable.
  • DC Johns meets his match: Peter’s first murder investigation.
  • Our Bernie: The story of Peter’s second marriage.
  • Sibling rivalry: A tale of antagonism between Peter and a fellow-officer.
