Joseph Conrad was an English writer of Polish origin and though he wrote his works in English he always considered himself a Pole. His stories often have nautical setting which is a typical feature of adventure stories. Even though his writing style may possess some elements of romanticism he is cosidered as a representetive of modernism. His works have been made into a number of films. An Outpost Of Progress' is a short story first published in 1897 and in 1898 it was included in the collection book 'Tales Of Unrest'. The story is based on Conrad's own experience in Africa. It tells about two European men on a trading post in African Jungle. They become involved in the ivory trading counting to get a great income.
