Stella Ikiriko is an ordinary woman who has experienced extraordinary events. Practising midwifery for thirty-five years, she worked in both Nigeria and the UK, with great success in her career. At a number of critical points she faced challenges, but each time she found that Jesus stepped into her situation in a remarkable way.

From encounters with angels, to hearing God's voice, we see how her relationship with Jesus gradually grows - until she comes to a point of discovering what it means for him to be both Lord and Saviour.

"In this book, Alaereba Stella Ikiriko has shared the unique story of the process of her coming to faith in Jesus. What makes this book remarkable is that she opens to us the inner conversations of her mind and heart. We all have such conversations as we listen to our hopes, questions, fears, commitments and loves, as we try to make sense of our present situation. From her experience, Alaereba encourages us to find the quiet and persistent voice of God among the other inner voices and emotions.

For her, the voice of God made his presence real. Especially in the challenges she faced – like the many nights when every breath was a physical ordeal as she lay sleepless; longing for morning.

I commend this book because of Alaereba's honesty and valuable insights. It has alerted me afresh to listen for the voice of God in the inner conversations of my soul and to be assured of his presence. May it be a similar blessing to you."

Alaereba Stella Ikiriko (known as Stella) has been a qualified nurse and midwife for forty-five years. She came to the UK in 1975 to train as a midwife at St Luke's Maternity Hospital in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and was one of the pioneer midwifery students that trained in a new one year Integrated Midwifery curriculum.
After eighteen months of gaining post qualification experience in the UK she returned home to Nigeria to practise in a Government Hospital setting as Staff Nurse Midwife. She then decided to return to the UK again to pursue her vision as a professional midwife which was a unique opportunity that was not available at the time for dual qualified midwives in her home country.

In June, 1990 she came back to the UK to fulfil that vision and was employed in one of the UK reputable Obstetrics and Gynaecology hospitals in West London. She acquired new skills which motivated her to take up her career as a more skilled practitioner to an autonomous Caseload (One to One) midwifery practice. This entailed huge responsibilities; despite that, the experience was always rewarding. She excelled in Caseload Practice working with often very vulnerable women in the community and she retired in April, 2011.

"In thirty-five years of professional practice, can I put a figure to the number of babies I delivered safely into the world? The answer is no!" says Stella.

"In retirement, what I enjoy in my Faith are the joy and peace that come with trusting Jesus each dawn, holding onto Him as my Lord and personal Saviour. Amen."
