As the Premiership began, a teenage would-be writer from West London finds himself burdened with an extraordinary talent for football. After a move to Manchester, he decides to give up football and devote himself to writing. He begins by looking back at some of the ups and downs in his life; his football, his family and his girlfriends. In spite of himself he finds he has achieved some minor celebrity which helps to raise his profile as a writer.Bryan Banks is a painter and art historian and studied at the Slade School. An active poet who took part in poetry readings with the likes of Tony Harrison. Bryan is now retired, and spends his time writing, painting and giving occasional lectures on the History of Art.
