Afraha defies the headless Uhuru-Man's order banning the millennium celebrations as treason against the Kenyan state. Afraha's desperate, courageous stand to save Lawina her twin sister pits her against the headless Uhuru-Man's hunt down of the rebel child. Amidst the chaos Baron Samedi, the god of the dead and his motley crew of zombies demand that the headless Uhuru-Man open the gates of the return for Haiti's dead. Pursued from Mombasa by the headless Uhuru-Man Afraha is torn between her love for twin sister Lawina and her desire to honour her father's dying wish. When Haiti's dead are denied admission to the halls of the living in Addis Ababa, Afraha gets unexpected help from Baron Samedi, Haiti's god of the dead and his notorious band of roués including nefarious Koroffi, Baron Samedi's notorious henchman, and the rest of the motley crew. Afraha is a brave child's fight to save her twin sister while evading the fearsome might of the headless Uhuru-Man lord of the almighty African state.

Afraha gets unexpected help from Baron Samedi the foreign artist whose millennium plea on behalf of Haiti's dead ghosts in Africa Hall Addis Ababa has been rejected by Africa's living. Nefarious Koroffi, the smartphone-wielding henchman of the foreign artist captures the hunt for Afraha and broadcasts it on all national radio and television channels, online and on all the social media platforms to the rage of the state and the Uhuru-Man who loses his head in a confrontation with Baron Samedi in Mombasa. Afraha journeys from Mombasa to Lake Victoria on her fateful last journey with the headless Uhuru-Man in hot pursuit but frustrated at every step by the dastardly foreigners' nefarious plots.

At the final dance of the gods at journey's end, Afraha's dance opens the gates of the lost beyond allowing Baron Samedi and his motley crew of foreign miscreants to flee the harsh sun of the living and thus return to Haiti of the dead. Honouring a father's dying wish, Afraha's bravery ends a perverted ancient rite.
