ELENA WAS LOOKING appalled. Curiously, she also looked incensed. “That can’t be,” she said. “They wouldn’t dare…”
They… what? “Well, it is,” he said with sympathy in his voice. Whoever they were, he might know later. Or not. He did not care as long as she would be staying longer.
It was obvious by the way that she was rushing to go back to her hotel that she had no design whatsoever of seducing him. If it was anyone else, this opportunity to stay would be greatly exploited. But she wasn’t any other woman that he knew, he realized that now. She was really here on business and not his charm or his obvious wealth would not stray her from the path.
But there was no rule against him trying to seduce her, was there?
“I’m afraid that you’re not going to make it back to New Orleans tonight. That road you came in on is now flooded and they’re not going to let traffic through there tonight.”
She looked like she was already thinking this. “But where can I stay?” she asked him wildly.
