Van Hooser shares a humorous personal account of growing up on the road with his father and older brother on the heels of the Great Depression. Unimaginable in modern times, the two young brothers spent their formative years occupying themselves in many major cities across the southeastern United States, while their father worked for their survival. Not often in school, this adventurous childhood taught Jack and his brother the values of hard work, adaptation and perseverance, lessons they carried with them through separations and successes in high school and college athletics, and beyond.
