Steven Goddard often fantasized of seeing the cold, harsh winters of his homeland, Toledo, Ohio in his rear-view mirror. Being a bachelor with no children and no other tethers to keep him in Toledo, Steve longed for the day when he would be able to join his parents and his sister in sunny FLA. He dreamed fondly upon the tiny Greek fishing village of Tarpon Springs, Florida as his Shangra-La. Steve was confident that once he escaped the big city rat race and grew accustomed to Florida’s heat and humidity, that the controversies of his life would be history and things would be smooth sailing from there on out. In reality, the blizzards, tempests and squalls of Steven’s life hadn’t even begun until he moved to Florida’s west coast.
After he got settled in at Tarpon Springs, there was some degree of sailing involved, but things were far from smooth. After three people around him mysteriously turned up dead and after he was accused in their murders, Steve began to question why he ever relocated his operation to Florida in the first place. But it wasn’t until someone very close to him was murdered and he was indicted by the State Attorney’s Office in her strangulation death, that Steven realized he had moved to the Sunshine State on a fool’s errand. In the parlance of Tarpon Spring’s venerable Greek fishermen, Steve Goddard came to Florida on “A GalleyWest Gambit”.
