This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of Romans, 1Corinthians, and 2Corinthians. They are: The power of signs and wonders; Demonstration; Trust in self, versus trust in God; and Seed, bread, harvest.
Excerpts:
The power of signs and wonders
“The manifestation of the power of God in the life of Paul in Ephesus caused those who practised sorcery to down their tools (Acts 19:11-20). It comes as a blast of light to jolt the consciousness of dull humanity to the awesome power, presence and purpose of God.”
Demonstration
“When Jesus stood before the grave of Lazarus and was about to raise him from the dead, Jesus told Martha: did I not tell that if you believe you will see the glory of God (John 11)? And at the end of the day that was what happened as Lazarus was raised from the dead after being in the grave for four days. That is a demonstration of the glory of God in a supernatural act.”
Trust in self, versus trust in God
“God has extended and is continuing to extend his love towards us in Christ Jesus. Therefore we can trust him implicitly with our lives, with our waking and sleeping, with our going out and coming in. You can trust him with your decision-making as he always wants to lead us besides still waters as our shepherd (Psalm 23:1-2), and there is the promise that as we trust him we will always find pasture (John 10:1-11).”
Seed, bread, harvest
“And when the seed of life is in us we get to have an harvest of it in our lives and as we release the seed-word into people’s lives they encounter Christ through us, as the bread of life and the seed is also established in them in a continuous chain bread-seed-harvest.”
