Retirement Is an Ongoing Process of Discovery -- Be Informed About the Many Opportunities and Challenges Waiting for You!
Received a starred review in Library Journal:
“The beauty of retiree Price’s book is its simplicity—one can pick a chapter and find a latent interest that could be developed, from building a bird house to quitting smoking. Price gives the reader the opportunity to do that by providing the idea, the opportunity potential, and the resources for getting started. The title doesn’t do the book justice; it’s an inspirational guide that will provoke people of all ages to engage in new ventures and discover what life can offer.” —Library Journal (October 2009)
Using your mind and body, and interacting with others are keys to a happy and healthy retirement life. Yes, good genes and money help, too; but you can’t pick your ancestors, and your financial situation is whatever you have made it. Successful retirees strive to live each day to the fullest, exercise their minds and bodies, and challenge themselves to continue to learn and grow personally.
The Successful Retirement Guide will assist retirees in identifying activities that will help them remain intellectually, socially and physically engaged with life—whatever their financial resources. Readers will discover:
Praise for The Successful Retirement Guide--
"The Successful Retirement Guide by author Kevin Price provides a wealth of information to help identify the activities that will help you remain intellectually, socially and physically engaged with life, regardless of your resources. The 344-page book is loaded with ideas and opportunities to explore ways to make your retirement a successful one.
"It is a book about learning, appreciating, growing, playing, making and giving back. It also discusses the reason for doing these things beyond the simple enjoyment they may bring. The book reviews hundreds of ideas for engaging retirement activities in an educational and entertaining fashion and provides references to sources of additional information. Following the introductory material it uses an alphabetical organizational format to present the ideas. It can be read at length but it is also easy to read in short sittings.
"For most of the hundreds of activities listed there are references - books, magazines, web sites and other resources that can provide additional information. The book has five appendices: Life Expectancy Calculators, Senior Olympics, Collectibles, Veterans’ Organizations, and Volunteer Considerations and Opportunities." —Retirement Living News (June 2009)
