Charles Montgomery Skinner was an American writer, editor, dramatic and art critic, mostly known as a collector and rewriter of North American folklore. “The Origin Of White-Fish” is a short story, entered in the collection “Myth and legend of our own land”. The narration is about an Indian who lives far in the north and is so devoted to hunting that he is never at home for a whole day, to the sorrow of his two sons, who like nothing as much as to hang around with father. At the time of hunter's absence his wife brings home a young man. When it becomes known, the husband kills his wife in rage of perfidy. Her spirit is turned in the White-Fish.
