Tara was left in a less than ideal financial situation, when her husband, leader of The Blackhearts, died a year ago. She didn't have a choice but to accept the club's help and found herself bound much too tightly to the gang. Now that restlessness abounded among the club members, Tara was forced to get involved once again, including dealing with her late husband's best friend, the sexy VP Shane.
_____
I threw him a glance. "Work with you?"
He raised his wine glass. "The rest of club is not too happy with the way the old drones are doing it, either. They knew Daniel and they knew this is not what it's supposed to be. Some are definitely itching to give it a go. That kid, Carter, definitely has some interesting plans."
"Why do you need me?"
"Information. You're good with it."
I sat back and watched him for a while. He was not wrong and I liked it that he gave straightforward answers. Definitely someone Daniel had approved of."I don't know," I hazarded. "Maybe Daniel dying is a sign, maybe I don't have to get involved with the club."I mean what's in it for me?"
Shane looked at me, his dark eyes seemed to see more than he should, a lot more than he should.
"I can give you what you want."
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the flash in his eyes. "You don't know what I want."
"I do," he said. "I'm good with information, too — especially when it's something personal."
I stood up quickly, almost knocking the wine glass off the table. "You're talking nonsense."
