Ricerca e pedagogia con la rappresentazione nell’esperienza di László Moholy-Nagy | The Issue of Representation in László Moholy-Nagy’s Research and Pedagogy

Noto in particolare per le sue ricerche in campo fotografico László Moholy-Nagy, in realtà, dette un contributo determinante a tutte le forme di rappresentazione e visualizzazione del suo tempo. Le immagini e la loro modalità di ricezione da parte dei riceventi furono oggetto delle sue ricerche e della sua attività pedagogica. La fotografia, così come il disegno, sviluppato anche in forma di notazione grafica, furono indagati come strumenti esplorativi di ricerca e per testare il rapporto sottile tra osservazione e rappresentazione. Portando le esperienze costruttiviste nel Bauhaus prima e nel New Bauhaus di Chicago poi, Moholy-Nagy spinse la rappresentazione in territori inesplorati ancora oggi di grande attualità. | Although famous for his research in the field of photography, during his lifetime László Moholy-Nagy made key contributions to all forms of representation and visualisation. His studies and pedagogical activities focused on images and the way they were viewed by observers. He studied photography and drawing, which he developed as graphic notations, considering them not only exploratory research tools but as a tool to test the subtle relationship between observation and representation. Influenced by the constructivist approach of the Bauhaus and the New Bauhaus in Chicago, Moholy-Nagy took representation into unknown territories which remain, even today, extremely topical.
