For a long while my philosophy in life was to go out and get what I wanted: “Follow your dreams!” And to a large degree that philosophy paid off. Even so, there was always something missing.“Ambition” I called it. I wasn’t happy with the status quo. My interests led me into employment opportunities that not only met financial needs but also gave me a certain satisfaction. However, it seemed that every time I mastered a situation and began to settle down, a new challenge presented itself. Even when my goal of retirement at fifty looked like it could become a reality, it didn’t have the attraction it once had.
What was going on?
When I did discover what was going on my understanding of previous, seemingly unrelated, events came into focus; while life wasn’t always a walk in the park, I realized that nothing in my life ever happened by chance. I was being led on to a predetermined purpose, a purpose that brings the satisfaction that I had been seeking all of my life. Retrace the journey with me.
Robert (Bob) Lever was born in England. He is married, with two children and three grandchildren. His background in England was business management and sales, which he continued when he moved his family to Canada in 1970. However, life began anew when Bob became a Christian in 1975 and transferred his focus from business to missions. He earned a Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies with the East West Center for Mission Research and Development in Seoul, Korea and subsequently served in various intercultural ministries both at home in Canada and overseas. Currently Bob serves as Vice President of Personnel for Wycliffe Canada.
