“What is it, Jay. Bob isn’t here, and I’m doing my homework,” she said, with disgust in her voice.
“Good girl. Study hard. Can’t always rely on your good looks.”
What a jerk, she thought. Catie never understood this guy or why her step-dad would want to hang out with him. He was young enough and not bad looking, but he was always making wisecracks that weren’t the least bit funny. She was determined to get rid of him.
