Rose Dugdale earned advanced degrees in economics and philosophy. During the student revolt of 1968 she sold her shares of Lloyd's and contributed the proceeds to London's poor. In 1973 she and her boyfriend stole valuables worth 82,000 pounds from her parents Devon estate. A judge sentenced Dugdale's accomplice to a prison term but only gave Rose a suspended sentence.
