Anthony Carfano, aka Little Augie Pisano, died on the streets of Astoria Heights, Queens on September 26, 1959. He was accompanied by Janice Drake, a former Miss New Jersey, who was married to comedian Allan Drake. Some four years later the murders remained unsolved. Little Augie had grown up with Al Capone in New York and later was a well known gangster in Brooklyn. The year before his death Carfano was instrumental in a major facelift/improvement that was given to Yonkers Raceway. A subsidiary company owned by the mobster and his brother, August, was awarded the Yonkers' remodeling job in early 1958. Additional improvements, i.e. plastering jobs, etc., were awarded to other Mafia figures, most of them affiliated with the Genovese crime family like Little Augie Pisano.
