KIT loves ROCK AND ROLL, FOLK, and BACH--and not in that order. Eight year old KIT is now an AMERICAN. ORPHANED in KOREA, and adopted by a family in the WEST COAST, she enters the portal of "1968 NORTHERN CALIFORNIA." Her story of THE FACTS OF LIFE regarding RACE, RELIGION, AND CULTURE OF THE 1960's is presented.

CHARLENE, ARRIVES IN AMERICA  and can only speak HANGUL, the KOREAN LANGUAGE. It's the 1980's. She's forced to accept her NEW CULTURE, her NEW LANGUAGE, her NEW IDENTITY, and her NEW MOTHER. While learning to adapt to her NEW COUNTRY, she reflects back upon HER LIFE IN KOREA with her BROTHERS and SISTERS and AUNTIES.

Both ORPHANS do their best to adapt to AMERICAN SOCIETY--while being in "THE SHADOWS OF THE SOUTH."
