痢疾为夏秋季之常见传染病之一，以腹痛、里急后重、下痢赤血为其主要特征，本病古时称为“肠澼”“滞下”等。多由饮食不洁、伤及肠胃、湿热蕴积、邪毒滞留所致。临床可分为湿热痢、疫毒痢、寒湿痢、噤口痢、虚寒痢及休息痢等，治疗以清热化湿、凉血解毒、温化寒湿、降逆开噤、温下固脱及补气温中等法为主。
