Downtown First Contact
Z Hour

Jessica Lake, a slim brunette who definitely rated a second or third glance in her little black dress and heels, got out of her friend Tina’s Mustang and waved goodbye. Tina and Jessica had enjoyed a girl’s night out: drinking, clubbing, flirting and dancing. The evening had been a great success, so much so that her first step toward her parked car in the downtown-parking garage almost made her fall. She balanced herself quickly and paused to let the woozy feeling past. When she had recovered, she stood erect. At that moment, a breeze brought a whiff of something rotten to her nostrils. Ooh, probably some homeless person, she reassured herself.

As Jessica started to walk towards her car, ahead a shadow seemed to drift by the outside columns not far from where she had parked. A shiver ran through her. She glanced quickly back over her shoulder, only to see the Tina’s taillights disappear around the corner of the building. Damn.
