Kevin Dahlgren, finds himself completing a typical workday when the power goes out. It doesn’t take him long to discover that most electronics have been destroyed by an EMP event. Little is known about the extent of the damage as he sets out to link up with family, but it is assumed the effects are more than local. As his region of the Pacific Northwest appears to have been plunged into darkness, he sets out on a path to not only survive, but also to find answers. Kevin soon finds himself on a path that taxes him, both physically and emotionally, as he begins to learn the costs of survival. Leaving the Willamette Valley to find a new home at the Oregon Coast, he sets into motion a chain of events that he could not have foreseen, and forces him to face unexpected horrors. The mundane and tragic aspects of day to day life seem magnified as Kevin navigates through the aftermath of the disaster. As he moves forward he has to learn to cope without the modern conveniences that everyone has for so long taken for granted. Events eventually begin to reshape the man he thought he was, while Kevin discovers new insights into what it means to be human. Parts 1 and 2 of the first book in a series.
