William Marshal held a code of honour as genuine as those of the Knights of the Round Table. He made himself the hero of the tournaments and served Eleanor of Aquitaine, King Henry 11, Richard 1, Young King Henry- for whom he went on crusade- King John and Henry 111. He negotiated the Magna Carta for King John and re-issed it for Henry 111. He had connexions to the Knights Templar and was laid to rest in the Round Temple in London.
