Dear reader, In this book I wanted to tell you stories; stories that would from time to time carry us to places we haven’t yet seen, to feelings we haven’t yet felt, magical stories that would help us find the familiar in other lives.. Whether they come from an ancient era, be they fables or tales or speak of mythological heroes, stories have always been the at the core of communication. Social values, traditions and histories have been transferred from generation to generation through stories. Ways of living together, life lessons and leadership examples have always been told through stories. Mythological heroes are incredibly powerful and skilled. They stand in the midst of ever escalating struggles and overcome their enemies with their ever present courage. Today we don’t have these incredible heroes and yet in each of us there is a hero who can look within, who wants to create a positive change in the world, reach his potential; a hero who has the courage to be whoever he is. My office is in Kandilli ,Istanbul, a neighborhood that I love, a neighborhood that I feel reflects my story and my work. Here, in this office working as a coach, I have met and worked with hundreds of people. My work has given me the opportunity to enter into many stories of transformation where I was allowed to witness journeys into uncharted waters. I triggered the awareness that led to these journeys. I saw what my heroes were capable of. I stood in awe of each of my heroes and the bond that we created led me to love each and everyone of them. During this process, I lived with my heroes and learned much from them. I decided to share with you these stories I was invited into and tell you what I learned. I wanted us to learn from one another, to connect with each other and grow stronger as we faced life. Each of us has a unique story. We have the power to make it better. If I can hear your story and you can hear mine, together we can create a new one. It is my wish that after you have read this book, you too will take a few minutes to listen to someone’s story and experience the genuine connection two people can create. As I wrote the stories of my heroes, I discovered that I had also carried a piece of or a longing for the past into my writing. Maybe I too wanted to tell you my tale, to connect with you. Thank you for being a part of my life, for reading this book and for becoming one of my heroes. May your days be filled with stories
