Emily the picture perfect daughter and sister, she has a vivid imagination and loves to play make believe with her younger sister. Her life is changed forever one fateful night as she sleeps at her favorite aunt’s house. She grows up engrossed in a naive fantasy of a relationship that she holds secret, to everyone except her late night thoughts and her abuser. Slowly Emily spirals out of control with no understanding of why she is so angry and confused, until her anger leads her somewhere she can’t come back from.
Tabbi, an only child, loves her mother more than life itself. Even more she loves and enjoys the uninterrupted time they spend together and their promises to always make and keep each other happy. Never could her nine year old innocent mind conceive to what extremes she would have to go in order to prove her love.
Raised by the streets, with an often absent single mother, Neka learns at an early age that she has to take control of her own destiny. One hurt filled experience after another hardens her heart to the possibilities of loving and trusting men and women alike. Just when all feels lost, Neka meets someone that changes her life for the good and bad all in one life altering setting.
“When I Grow up I want to be a Prostitute” is a collection of fictional stories and events surrounding three young girls exposed to sex abuse in the early part of their life and what became of their futures and outlooks on life.
