This is a short story set in the Germanican tribal area which is now part of Denmark. The Romans are trying to expand their territory but are not yet fighting. Much trading and visiting went on.
Becan, returning home after four years of trading with the Romans, looks forward to meeting his sweetheart and to their marriage. He knows she will be waiting for him. He's sent her messages every year and is certain that she has kept her word and waited for him. But there have been other things happening he doesn't know about. So will Leila the fair be there for Becan?
