“Web of shadows”. That's what Peter's friend, Mike Williamson, had said. “Each of us are the sum total of all the events of our lives. In time our base personality becomes enmeshed in a web of shadows, intricately interwoven over the years, to form the person we are at present.”

In most people that was what built character. But for Peter Holmes, it had built a barrier between himself and the outside world. Not a wall, but a window, a dirty, streaked window that separated him from the world around him.

Instead of looking out, he learned to look inward, towards his imagination where anything is possible. His ideas were small at first but as he grew so did they.

When he came up with his ultimate idea, it was only fitting that his two childhood friends should be there to help build it. The Twins, Mike and Cathy Williamson. The only two people that had ever made Peter feel worthy.

The machine, Mad Max, creates yet another shadow in his life, a real one, one that can't be ignored and that only he can cast aside, even though it means risking his life and everything he loves.
