"Wayward Pines: An Unauthorized Guide" is based on the Fox Network's television mini-series and Blake Crouch's wonderful print trilogy. "Pines," "Wayward Pines" and "The Last Town."

What is the truth? Are the residents of Wayward Pines dead or alive-or both?" Who is Dr. David Pilcher and does he believe he is God? How does Pilcher define God? Is he a kind, benevolent savior or a sadist who would have no hesitation about murdering his wife and his daughter?

What is the truth? None of the town's residents know how they wound up in this town. All they know is that they opened their eyes and were being treated in the town's hospital.

New residents are obligated to read and memorize the town's welcome manual. But the book does not offer a exit solution--only advice that inside the town is life and outside only brings death.

Why are residents being told that they could start life afresh and live an idyllic existence if they just follow the rules that Pilcher has promulgated. Rules that prevent them, on pain of death, from leaving Wayward Pines. Is it "just a town" as the veteran inhabitants tell the new resident? Or it something else?

The truth is that humanity has disappeared and that Wayward Pines' residents are the last remnant of Homo Sapiens on Earth. How did mankind disappear? When did this occur and why? What are the abbies lurking just outside the town's electrified fence? Are they humanity's worst nightmare? What happens if the resistance within Wayward Pines takes control?
