On 20 December 2004, an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale occurred off the west coast of Northern Sumatra in Indonesia resulting in tsunami. Banda Aceh was the worse to be affected, more than 130,000 people perished and more than 500,000 made homeless.

The Waves of Change ...Tsunami, Years After is the observed recovery of Banda Aceh in politics, economy and culture. These changes are reflected in the authors journey to Banda Aceh three years after the tsunami.
