Paula Coffer grew up in a small town in the deserts of New Mexico. She left to see the world and discover her true self. Two WestPac cruises to Vietnam with the US Navy and a career with the US Army as a Finance Officer that ended when the crossroads of her life reached such a fervor that a change was required. An additional two decades of progressively challenging careers found her advising General Officers, US Embassy officials and foreign diplomats as she endeavored to build the financial infrastructure of the Afghanistan National Police. Her work with the United Nations in Kabul, Afghanistan and the Afghanistan Ministry of Interior would prove invaluable to the efforts of the United States in ensuring the taxpayer dollar was properly accounted for. All these accomplishments were achieved while fighting her demons inside and the discrimination within our society. Estranged from her family with no role models to rely on for help she forged the battlefield of prejudice as she educated others and opened doors for many she’ll never meet. This is her story gleaned from old letters, diaries and journals that take you on the emotional roller coaster ride that most of us could never imagine. For those that are experiencing this same emotional turmoil and their families, it is Paula’s desire that this book will give you the understanding to help you navigate this journey. After all, isn’t happiness and love all that we truly desire?
