Walk a Mile in My Shoes

For 10 years Charley had lived on the streets and slept on a cardboard box. He was hiding from his past, from the police, and from the life-changing mistake he’d made that put him on the cold, brutal streets. Yet, day after day he hung around the same tall building in the downtown streets of Houston. Something he couldn’t quite identify was beckoning him there. It wasn’t until Charley swiped a pair of shoes that his life changed. When Charley put on those shoes, something bizarre happened. His life wasn’t his anymore. His feelings weren’t his, but were those of a total stranger. He had to convince the man not to make the same mistake Charley did years ago that put him on the streets, hiding behind buildings and posts whenever a police car cruised by. But would the stranger even listen to Charley? Would the man take Charley’s advice—and warning—that would prevent him from living in a cardboard box under the bridge next to Charley?
