Long ago in the Heian Period, Japan was governed by aristocrats and the Emperor, Mikado.
But the decline of the aristocracy and the rise of samurai clans and temples with armed priests had begun to make the nation unstable. Among them, the Taira clan, a samurai family led by Taira no Kiyomori, rose to power. This is a story about one of Kiyomori’s younger brothers, Tadanori.
