Twelve Thousand Dogs is the first in a series of humorous crime novels about Tom Murphy, a bounty hunter working in a rural region known as The Tri-County Area.

In Twelve Thousand Dogs, Sheriff Brad Harrison pulls Tom away from his bounty hunting activities to track down and recover Atlas, a rare and valuable bullmastiff, kidnapped from his home in the dog-crazy town of Belcher. Retrieving Atlas turns out to be a great gig that pays in advance and gives Tom a break from his obnoxious boss, Gord Hacket. There's just one problem. Tom, the war vet, ex-cop, and bounty hunter is terrified of dogs.

Laugh along with Tom as he delves into the painful psychology of canine ownership in Belcher, the most dog-populated town in the country. Tom relies on his intellect, an infuriating wit, and brute force as he confronts angry rednecks, fanatic dog owners, aggressive dogs, slaughter house henchmen, and deadly dog breeders in his search for Atlas, the largest bullmastiff in the Tri-County Area.
