Travel & Tales of an Engineer will hopefully reinforce readers' understanding that engineers can and do make a valuable contribution to society and our environment.

These memoirs cover personal stories of Louis Solway in addition to the spread of projects and opportunities he experienced in many countries. Extensive essays are included for projects in Libya, Gnana, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Syria and Pakistan - as well as one on the UN International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR), which is screaming for remedial action in many cities throughout the world before the next major hazard event occurs.

Louis Solway was born, married and had all his three children in Birmingham, UK, before a London firm of consulting engineers brought the family to Surrey. He has travelled to many challenging and interesting areas of the world from Hong Kong to Trinidad, spending a lot of time in the Middle East, including four years in Tehran, Iran, with his family, and 17 months in Ghana, West Africa, as a bachelor.
