Students entering Senior High School often do so with reservation and trepidation; this is a crucial step for any child. Children may feel fearful and anxious about going to a new school and a new environment. There will be new students and new teachers they will get to know. Students will take more subjects than they were taking in Junior High School.
The objective of this book is to help the grade 10 student settle as quickly as possible, so he/she can be about the business of learning. Every school age child in Senior High School, in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, from Inagua in the south to Grand Bahama in the north, can benefit from using this book.

The activities are designed in a way that in the absence of a Guidance Counselor, the student, with the help of the Homeroom teacher, Family Life teacher, and parent can still use the materials in this book. The information required will place the counselor or teacher in a better position to assist the student.

From this book, the student will: a. Learn ways to help him/her successfully survive Senior High School. b. Learn how to improve study skills to perform better in school. c. Learn about graduation requirements to obtain The Bahamas High School Diploma. d. Learn useful Drug Awareness information. e. Learn how to use the internet properly. f. Find helpful information about sexuality. g. Learn money management skills. The grade 10 student will learn valuable skills that will be beneficial to him/her for the rest of his /her life.

Additionally, parents are asked to play an active role in the life of their child by utilizing the tools included in this book. These helpful tools will help each parent monitor the progress of his/her child. I wish a smooth transition into Senior High School for each child and parent who uses this book.
