After Albie's wife walks out on him he decides to look for a housekeeper. Carol lives to write and she thinks being a housekeeper for a farmer will give her plenty of opportunity to work on her books. It isn't long before Albie falls in love with Carol but she has been badly hurt by her ex husband and is in no hurry to get into another relationship. One day she invites her first true love to come and visit. Cade is gay and although nothing physical has happened between them they share a deep and abiding love.
