This lovely children's book tells the story of a remarkable majestic tree. This particular tree is not just beautiful, he can also walk! He saves that particular activity for very rare occasions, and so it remains a secret for long periods of time.

Over the years, the tree makes friends with the surrounding trees and bushes as well as the people who live nearby. He can only communicate with the other plants of course. Trees cant talk to humans after all. But people and trees can grow to love each other despite that limitation. And this tree develops some deep friendships over many decades.

But all is not idyllic forever. Over time, the demands of a growing community begin to affect the tree and the other bushes and shrubs around him. The tension between the needs of a larger population, verses conservation of the natural environment, is seen loud and clear. Soon, the walking tree is faced with a major decision and dilemma that brings him to a place he has never been before...

The story is illustrated by three beautiful paintings done by the artist Belle Marin.
