The Reverend Philip Watkins had reached his limit. He was everything a vicar needed to be, strong, kind, helpful, love of other human beings and a belief in God. What could go wrong? After his training period in the East End of London he was given his first parish in an idyllic village in the middle of Oxfordshire. He married the Lord of the Manor’s daughter had two children and on the face of it was blissfully happy. But his father in law was a cruel, powerful and dominating man that made his life hell. After five years he took his family and fled to Sussex and began a new life as the vicar of West Wittering. It didn’t last, his wife still under the influence of her father left him taking his children with her. What was wrong with the world? He had been a good husband, father and vicar and life had kicked him in the teeth. From that point in time he lost his faith and was corrupted by an evil women, Lady Amelia Whitton-Stroke. Phillip took advantage of the vulnerability of any new widows until he went too far and got burnt literally. He was now no longer any use to Lady Amelia and was luckily dismissed instead of murdered. His burning hatred of Lady Amelia helped him defeat his injuries and alcoholism. When he was ready, he got on a plane to Panama to find out the evil that he had been part of. Child prostitution, he felt sick and disgusted. Philip made the decision and travelled south from Panama City to the lawless area of Darien. There he would take his bloody murderous revenge! The Reverend Philip was a character in my Brothers of the Sword series and I wanted to take him further and see how his experiences had changed him.
