It shares the vision of Justine Hickson and other chartering members of KUO. Fifteen women decided they wanted to start a chapter in Aiken, South Carolina. This dream became a reality on April 13, 1976; and so began Kappa Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.: an organization of professional, educated, and dedicated women, all who share a passion and commitment to the ideals of their great sisterhood, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University. The history of Kappa Upsilon Omega Chapter traces the beginning programs of this chapter until now with emphasis on “service to mankind.”
