The Time Is Out of Joint

Shakespeare wrote Hamlet’s words, ‘the time is out of joint’ more than 400 years ago. Today, throughout the world, the sense of dislocation seems to be increasing. In this century, globalisation has seen an increase in religious and cultural problems, but the solutions remain beyond the reach of leaders who have failed to recognise the consequence of their actions. The result is a world that fails to reflect our fundamentally social and unselfish nature. Now is the time to question supposedly democratic processes and the privileged status of leaders and elite groups. Our brains have made us capable of much, but can we find a new world before this one falls apart?
