Take a good dose of humour, mix it with a bit of nonsense, add a little folklore and a handful of one-liners, weave all this into a story and we have the perfect recipe for the best of all medicines – laughter. This is a recipe book like no other. It is designed to make you laugh and hence to feel good.
Writing this was a labour of love with much of the material coming from real life. Some of the events, the story, “Armageddon,” for instance, did actually take place. On the other extreme, Hard Way Jones is a fictional character whose story is a new take on an old yarn which, for many years, delighted previous generations. Then there’s the story about Ludmiller’s luminous breasts which, of course, is sheer fantasy but nevertheless not beyond the realm of possibility.
As in real life, some of our characters do occasionally swear and there are a few sexual references. And, as with all humour, someone or something usually comes off second-best, but rest assured no malice or offense is intended or implied.
So why not join our friends Jimmy Ah Send, the reverend Ivor Bentwick, Paddy McGinty’s goat and a whole host of other characters intent on making sure you revel in levity.
