'The Steadfast Tin Soldier' is a literary fairy tale written by well-known Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, and was published in 1838 and was Andersen’s first not based upon a folk tale. The story tells us about tin soldier who fell in love with a paper ballerina. 

A boy gets a present on his birthday – set of 25 tin soldiers. One of them is one-legged due to the lack of tin when he was being made. The toys live their life at night. The soldier falls in love with a paper ballerina standing on one leg too. Suddenly a goblin appears and tells the soldier to stop looking at the ballerina, but the soldier ignores him. 

The author employs an interesting method of telling story: soldier and ballerina during the whole fairy tale say not a single word and do not a single movement without assistance.
