Lacy is given a mysterious family heirloom for her 16th birthday - a silver cross, engraved with initials of unknown relatives.

Her grandmother, Margaret, had been found in the ruins of a house during World War II, completely deafened by the bomb which killed her mother.  She had been taken to an orphanage and brought up by nuns, discharged on her 16th birthday to work in a factory.  The paperwork from the Orphanage stating Margaret's name, address and date of birth do not match up with any official records.

Lacy sets out to trace her true family, using only the initials on the silver cross and the phoney certificate as her guide.  She soon realises that her cross is haunted by the ghost of her Great Grandfather.  He is angry, wanting to avenge the crimes against him and his family.

But Lacy's discoveries put her at risk of terrible danger.  Can the silver cross save Lacy from becoming the next victim of her own horror story?
