The beginning years of the Twentieth Century saw the world being changed by many exciting new inventions including the telephone, horseless carriage, and perhaps most amazing of all--silent films.
However, the economic downturn leaves two young women and their father in dire financial straits. Papa Freemont, the head of the family develops a problem with his speaking voice that has disastrous consequences for his stage career. He saves his two daughters from becoming homeless by taking a job in the new silent picture industry. After a time, the two girls follow him into this blossoming industry, and learn that the real price of success entails.
The manager of the studio has an idea to extend his business by shooting films that will be shown in such places as men's clubs, and underground drinking establishments. Kristy and Darla Johnson soon find themselves as the female leads in the birth of adult oriented, celluloid entertainment.
